Tips for Checking a Used Car’s Air Conditioner During Winter
by Jamie Ruf
If you are in the market for buying a used vehicle here in Brisbane you will want to check everything out to see what type of condition it is in. One thing you may not think of, because it is winter, is the vehicle’s air conditioner. The last thing you want is to overlook this, purchase the used vehicle, and find out when summer arrives that it doesn’t work at all. There’s something you can do to check it out!
When you are looking at the used vehicle you are interested in purchasing, you should check out the air conditioner, even if it is really cold outside. Here are a couple of things you can do to ensure the air conditioner works properly:
- Pull the vehicle into a garage that is heated or warm for a minute and put the air conditioner on. This will give you an idea of if it puts out cold air as it should.
- Another option is to sit in the car outside with a friend or two for about five minutes. Let the windows fog up, and then put the air conditioner on. The job of the air conditioner is to remove the humidity, so you when you put it on the fog should go away.
- Have a professional inspect the air conditioner to determine the condition of it and if it needs any repair work.
Having a working air conditioner on the used vehicle you may be purchasing may not seem important during the winter. But it will as soon as it heats up, so you have to give it some thought now. You want to make sure it’s in good working order, even if you don’t plan to use it until months from now.
